Latest Advances in Breast and Body Surgery – July Event

On July 17th, Farber Plastic Surgery hosted an event entitled “Latest Advances in Breast and Body Contouring Surgery”. The event was sponsored by one of the top breast implant manufacturers in the United States, Mentor Worldwide.

Dr. Farber spoke about new techniques in body contouring as compared to traditional procedures such as liposuction. There are many new non-invasive options in body contouring on the market. However, board-certified plastic surgeons have been underwhelmed by the results of many of the new technologies. The overwhelming majority still believe the best body contouring results are achieved through traditional liposuction.

Breast augmentation surgery has seen many advances over the last decade. New form-stable and anatomically shaped silicone implants (Gummy Bear Implants) were recently FDA approved. The form-stable anatomic implants match the natural shape of the breast. Comprised of a stiffer gel, there is less wrinkling of the implant than is expected with a traditional round implant.

Another popular procedure is the mommy makeover that utilizes a combination of breast and body contouring techniques to help women regain their pre-pregnancy bodies. A mommy makeover is tailored to each specific patient utilizing a combination of abdominoplasty, liposuction, breast augmentation, breast lift, and or breast reduction techniques.
