The surgery typically takes two hours, and you will have a significant scar as a result, but Dr. Farber makes the incision on the inside of your arm where the scar is less noticeable.

On the Road to Recovery

A compression garment is used to keep the skin and soft tissue in place while you heal, and you will notice a tightening sensation on your arms, indicating that your skin is re-shaping to fit the new contours of your arms. You may also have some discomfort, bruising, swelling, and redness. Rest is very important as you recover from your arm lift surgery, and you will need to take about one week off from work.

Arm Lift FAQS

Technically, arm lift results can last a lifetime if you maintain a healthy lifestyle and keep your weight stable. An arm lift surgically removes wrinkled, loose, or sagging upper arm skin that occurs due to significant weight loss. However, loose skin can reappear in the future as you age and experience weight fluctuations. Still, you may not need a surgical revision if these changes are not overly pronounced.

Thanks to general anesthesia, you will not feel any pain during the surgery itself. Once the anesthesia wears off, you may experience discomfort, swelling, and bruising around the surgical sites. We’ll provide you with detailed aftercare instructions to follow during your recovery to make the process as smooth and complication-free as possible.

Brachioplasty is not a weight loss procedure. Instead, it is a surgery to improve your upper arms’ appearance after you shed a dramatic amount of weight. Brachioplasty can resolve the excess wrinkled or sagging skin many people experience after their weight loss journey.

If you struggle with excess fat accumulation on your arms, you can consider procedures such as liposuction or high-definition liposuction. These techniques allow you to say goodbye to fat that doesn’t

If you feel self-conscious about revealing your upper arms and it prevents you from wearing clothes like swimsuits or sleeveless tops, an arm lift can improve your quality of life and allow you to show off more of your style. This surgery can redefine your arms for a smooth, contoured look. After you experience the long-lasting results and a major confidence boost, you may find yourself recommending Dr. Farber’s expertise to your family and friends.

While all surgeries leave scars, Dr. Farber will make his brachioplasty incisions on the insides of your arms for less conspicuous scarring. Over time, these scars will fade to be closer to your regular skin tone. You can do your part to help them heal more quickly by protecting your surgical sites from the sun – excessive UV exposure can make scars appear darker. Dr. Farber also offers advanced scar revision techniques and can recommend topical creams for you to apply at home to diminish scarring.
