Chemical Peels in Boca Raton at Farber Plastic Surgery
Aging damages your skin in many ways, not just with wrinkles and deep creases. Your skin may look dull, and you may even develop areas of uneven pigmentation, such as the dreaded age spots. Older skin also starts to look “rough” and dry. Over-the-counter treatments, facial surgery, and dermal fillers are not designed to specifically correct these problems.
What Is a Blue Peel Chemical Peel?
Chemical peels work by removing layers of your skin so that your body will generate new, healthier skin. Blue Peel is a medium chemical peel that works in the mid-range layers of your skin.
Is a Blue Peel Chemical Peel Right for Me?
If you have fine lines, a dull complexion, age spots, or other types of discoloration and large pores, Dr. Farber may recommend Blue Peel. The treatment is not designed to reduce the appearance of deeper wrinkles and creases that are caused by the contractions of your facial muscles, such as forehead creases, crow’s feet, and scowl lines. For these signs of aging, Dr. Farber may recommend Botox® and injectable fillers.

On the Road to Recovery
Dr. Farber may recommend post-treatment skin care products to help your skin recover from the Blue Peel treatment. With the exception of activities that expose your skin to the sun, you may return to your normal activities immediately after your Blue Peel, but you should note that your skin will be blue for three days. Within five days of your treatment, your skin starts to peel and flake, indicating that the tired, aged skin is being replaced with healthier new skin, and this process may last up to nine days.
ZO 3-Step Peel
The ZO Obagi 3-step peel is done in the comfort of our office. We use this peel for patients who aim to target melasma, acne, fine lines and wrinkles, rough skin texture, large pores, and dullness. This peel is effective on all ages and skin types. The benefits include a deep exfoliation, skin renewal and stimulation, and more. The 3-step peel is followed by an at-home retinol treatment designed to support dermal and epidermal stimulation. It supports barrier function and improves the skin’s ability to renew itself, provides antioxidant protection, DNA repair and anti-inflammation benefits.
How Does it Work?
The direct application of the peel utilizes a blend of exfoliants, a 6% concentration of retinol and multi-action agents that stimulate collagen and restore moisture balance. The application of the peel can be easily tailored to every patient based on their tolerance level. This is a dual-action and highly effective peel designed to provide skin renewal and stimulation. In total, the 3-step peel lasts about 30 minutes to 1 hour from start to finish, including prep.
The ZO 3-step peel is patient friendly, meaning it is suitable for any skin type and color. It can be repeated every 3-4 weeks and causes moderate patient downtime. The skin will exfoliate and peel beginning on the second day, and this will last for 5 days. For the best possible results, 2-3 peels are recommended yearly. Patients who are more advanced into treatment also like to get the Dermapen procedure done 4 weeks prior to or after their peel to maximize skin improvement.
