The ears are one of the most popular body areas used for self-expression, with gauging and earrings being the most common forms of ear decoration. Unfortunately, as the years pass, your methods of self-expression have changed, but your earlobes have not. Your earlobes are stretched and perhaps have even torn.

How Is Earlobe Repair Performed?
Dr. Farber uses local and topical anesthesia to numb the area. If your earlobes are stretched or gauged, Dr. Farber removes the excess skin and soft tissue. Sutures are then used to fully repair the earlobe.

What Is Ear Gauge Repair?
Ear gauging, also known as earlobe stretching, is a popular type of body piercing which involves progressively increasing the size of an earlobe piercing. The process typically begins with a standard ear piercing, and then after the lobe heals, a larger piece of circular jewelry is inserted. Due to the nature of the process, ear gauging is permanent, and the lobe can only be corrected through surgery.
Is Ear Gauge Repair Right For Me?
Dr. Farber recommends ear gauge repair for patients who have undergone the process of ear gauging and wish to restore their ear lobes to a more natural appearance. Often times, patients choose ear gauge repair because the appearance of ear gauging no longer suits their lifestyle.
How Is Ear Gauge Repair Performed?
To repair the ear lobe after ear gauging, Dr. Farber performs an outpatient procedure in his office. In most cases, only local anesthesia is required for the repair. Once the ear lobe is numb, the stretched skin and tissue are removed, and the ear lobe is stitched together into a more natural shape. The result of the procedure depends greatly on the extent of the ear gauging. For patients who have more advanced ear gauging, there may be little tissue to work with, so the ear lobes may appear shorter than before the ear gauging, but the shape will appear more natural.
